Helping Children and Their Families
In addition to her work with adults, Dr. Carroll counsels children and parents dealing with behavioral concerns and family issues. In addition to extensive training in pediatric behavioral health, Dr. Carroll's experience includes over 25 years in private practice and service as an educator and psychologist in public schools and other settings.
Her offices include a special room designed to create a safe place for children to talk, discuss feelings and engage in activities that promote self-exploration and self-esteem. In addition to "talk time", children have opportunities though art, books, games, and play to express themselves and learn effective ways of coping with the world around them.
Dr. Carroll partners with parents in individual sessions to develop workable strategies to deal with
areas of concern. She works closely with parents, teachers, and collateral professionals involved with the child.
The Importance of Healthy Boundaries

Establishing and maintaining appropriate boundaries is the key to enjoyable, sustainable relationships. Boundaries provide equilibrium and a balance of power that is the foundation for emotional closeness and reciprocity.
Boundaries are important in all relationships: couples, parents and children, friends, and families. Settiing clear, healthy boundaries is sometimes difficult and uncomforable, especially if the boundaries in your childhood family and other relationships were not appropriate.
Understanding healthy expectations in relationships can help you determine when it is time to say "no" to boundaryless behavior.
For a helpful guide, see The Relationship Bill of Rights.
An additional resource is the book Boundaries by Henry Cloud and John Townsend.
